Now ambassador
At the court of the bedroom window
Over a field in the city's palm;
New proxy for a larger place
Though my host is every star in the sky,
Every blade of grass and its shadow.
Their palace voices want no translation,
But they all speak at once:
To be single one must shout
Or eye me closely for a meal
From an a/c perch.

What he read were books
About words:
To wear one's rue with a difference;
A predilection to talk alone
In the once-silence,
To reflect upon no object --
And keep possession of one's eyes
For fear of another's
Child-like.
Will smoke tomorrow morning's now:
Careless of the hour
Inhaling so deeply
In a valedictory misapprehension.
